As usual in the world of video games, a few journalists from the specialized press have had the opportunity to travel to Los Angeles to test the expected Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The Electronic Arts game is possibly the most anticipated release of this April 2023, so nothing better than to warm up with their impressions and a summary: it is better than its first part and aims high.

For Borja Ruete, from Meristation, “a sequel is usually asked to be more and better, although more is not always better in all cases. However, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor meets both requirements, corrects the problems of the original, expands its scale and hints that it will be a more rounded title at all levels“.

In this sense, the journalist of the Prisa group’s newspaper emphasizes that during the four hours that the game was tested, the sensations were that “the pillars have been shored up and are more solid: combat, exploration and platforms, its metroidvania structure and even the storyline take a step forward”.

Meanwhile, the folks at Hobby Consolas also had the opportunity to get their hands on the game and try it out. According to Álvaro Alonso, Cal keeps all the skills from the previous game, so we will be able to use them without any problems. It is usual in these games for the main character to forget the techniques or to have to unlock them again. Not here: there will be releases and that’s it.

“We expected a continuist sequel, and to some extent it is, but we were very surprised by the substantial improvement over the original and the large number of new features that make it a much more rounded game,” he says.

As for customization, from Gaming Bolt they emphasize that now it has been deepened. To deny that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order had few options is absurd. The first installment had small customization options, not to mention that cosmetics were anecdotal. Now these have evolved and you can modify your hair, head, costumes and more. In short, a leap has been made.

Eurogamer is also along the same lines of what has been commented in these lines. The British publication was able to test the game thanks to Chris Tapsell, who points out that we are facing an old-school sequel, but “that’s perfect”. “Respawn has worked smartly from the end of the first game to the beginning of the next, but most importantly, the cheesy and slightly awkward teenage charm of the first game is intact […] There’s more platforming than before, it felt very similar while I was with the game, only now more refined,” he says about the platforming touch.

Developed by the Respawn team under the baton of Stig Asmussen, in the game we return to control Cal Kestis, now more powerful and experienced who carries on his shoulders the hopes of the future of the galaxy. A more mature Cal Kestis who must look beyond his lightsaber to find his destiny and fight the Empire.

Familiar friends and new allies, including Cere Junda (Debra Wilson), Greez Dritus (Daniel Roebuck), Merrin (Tina Ivlev) and new mercenary Bode Akuna (Noshir Dalal), will support Cal against the Empire and the galaxy’s enemies. Available April 28 for PlayStation 5, Xbox X | S Series and PC.
