Recently, new details about Star Wars: Zero Company were revealed following its official presentation at the Star Wars Celebration Japan. This highly anticipated video game will be set during the Clone Wars, a period frequently explored in the Star Wars universe, but it promises to unveil hidden stories and covert operations that have remained in the shadows until now.
A game set in the most tumultuous period of Star Wars
The game is inspired by a variety of Star Wars narratives, including the renowned animated series The Clone Wars, as well as Rogue One and Andor. Additionally, it borrows elements from classic World War II films, such as The Dirty Dozen. According to Greg Foertsch, creative director of Bit Reactor, “The Clone Wars provide us with many of the mechanical tools we need for the game, which is excellent”. Foertsch also emphasized that this approach offers a unique perspective for telling an immersive story, supported by innovative gameplay mechanics.
The producer of LucasFilm Games, Orion Kellogg, and creative executive Kelsey Sharpe also emphasized that the Clone Wars era allows for exploring “all kinds of places in that area,” where original stories can be told. The nuanced narrative of this period is considered a major influence for Zero Company, along with the atmosphere of earthly heroes that characterized Rogue One. “Even if you have a more realistic tone and delve into the nuances of the conflict, there is always hope,” Sharpe commented, highlighting the importance of the bonds between allies and the mythology surrounding Star Wars.
Star Wars: Zero Company is scheduled to be released in 2026 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S, and promises to offer a rich narrative experience and gameplay mechanics that will appeal to fans of the saga.
