And it’s over. The official Bethesda Twitter profile has announced something many of us have been eagerly waiting for: Starfield has gone gold. What does this mean? Quite simply: the game is now complete and more than finished.

When a title achieves the “gold” status, it means it enters the duplication phase, which involves being recorded onto discs, uploaded to various digital stores, and so forth. In other words, the core development is now completed, and the game could be played right from this very moment if desired.

Taking this as a reference, starting from tomorrow, August 17th, preloading will be available on Xbox consoles, including both Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. However, for PC players on Steam, the wait extends until August 30th.

It’s worth noting that Starfield won’t be available until September 6th, so if the early download happens tomorrow, we’ll have it almost three weeks ahead of time. Although, it could be two weeks instead of three, as the Ultimate edition allows early access a few days before, precisely on September 1st. This is why the game’s preloading will be available on Steam on August 30th, so that it’s ready for download 48 hours in advance.

Just a few days ago, we discussed that Starfield will feature a significant character editing feature. Similar to other Bethesda productions (such as Skyrim or the highly acclaimed Fallout series), you’ll be able to modify your character creation at any time.
