Unless you’re an intrepid Linux hacker already, we’re going to recommend that you wait until later in 2014 to try it out.
However, there is one huge caveat, which is that SteamOS will be extremely difficult to install unless you’re well versed with Linux. “Unless you’re an intrepid Linux hacker already, we’re going to recommend that you wait until later in 2014 to try it out,” writes Valve in a blog post.
SteamOS is Valve’s response to consoles taking over the living room by unifying hardware and software for a seamless experience. Now that latest generation of consoles are running on PC hardware, SteamOS could become a great way to turn a PC into a home theater and gaming console.
We won’t get to see SteamOS in action on Steam Machines until the Consumer Electronics Show in early 2014 so stay tuned.
