Steven Spielberg’s new science fiction movie, provisionally titled The Dis, is scheduled for release on May 15, 2026. This project will mark a return to the director’s roots, known for classic works like Close Encounters of the Third Kind and E.T., although many details about the plot are still unknown.
Colman Domingo, who is part of the cast alongside stars like Emily Blunt, Colin Firth, and Josh O’Connor, shared in a recent interview that the script made him cry uncontrollably. He described the story as a very human experience, suggesting that Spielberg will aim to move the audience in a way reminiscent of his early masterpieces.
Although the specific synopsis of the film has not been revealed, Domingo indicated that the narrative is based on reality and will address themes revolving around UFOs, a continuous interest of Spielberg. Additionally, screenwriter David Koepp, known for his work on Jurassic Park, confirmed that the story will evoke his previous works focused on space phenomena.
Although there is still time for its release, it has been in development for quite some time
The filming of The Dish will begin in the spring of 2023, so more details are expected to be revealed in the near future. The combination of an emotional script and science fiction elements promises to offer a rich experience that could attract both Spielberg fans and new audiences.
With a mix of expectations and excitement, both the production team and the filmmaker’s followers remain eager to discover how this new space adventure will unfold on the big screen.
