Whispers of Change: AI-Generated Stickers May Be Coming to WhatsApp

That artificial intelligence is bound to reach every aspect of our lives is no surprise. For now, companies are gradually integrating this technology into their tools, but it’s only a matter of time before it becomes more pervasive in familiar places. And yes, WhatsApp is gearing up for it, even in the most basic aspect: stickers.
Thanks to the publication WaBetaInfo, specialized in extracting information about the messaging app, we have learned that we’ll soon have generative AI for creating stickers.
What does this mean? Well, it’s quite simple. Just like with artificial intelligences like Midjourney, the user will be able to create stickers by describing what they’re looking for. For example, if we tell the AI that we want a sticker of a lion wearing a hat, this tool will create a sticker of a lion with a hat (the example is absurd, but we want to convey the idea).
The only question that remains so far is whether this artificial intelligence will only create stickers with a cartoon style (as seen in the leaked images) or if it will be able to produce more realistic creations. The resulting sticker can be sent instantly to another recipient or saved in our collection for future use.
This new feature is currently exclusive to WhatsApp Beta version 2.23.17.14. As it becomes more established among the users who have the opportunity to test it, WhatsApp will decide whether to roll it out to the general public (which is the usual procedure in such cases – it’s typically tested in beta before being released to the wider audience).
