Tesla Increases Prices By Up To 22% Amid Canadian Boycott

Tesla has recently raised prices across its entire electric vehicle lineup in Canada, with increases reaching as high as 22%.

This significant price hike comes amid heightened tariffs resulting from the prolonged trade war initiated by President Trump, which has led to a decline in Tesla’s demand in the Canadian market.

In recent months, Canadian consumers have increasingly boycotted U.S. products, particularly Tesla, due to CEO Elon Musk’s controversial remarks about the country and his ties to Trump.

Experts Predict Demand Collapse As Tesla Struggles With Unsold Inventory

Musk’s past contributions exceeding $250 million to Trump’s campaign have left a sour taste among many Canadians, further exacerbating Tesla’s appeal. The brand also faced backlash after seemingly capitalizing on the pause of the federal EV incentive in Canada, which has put additional financial pressure on potential buyers.

Currently, Tesla’s vehicles have become increasingly unaffordable for the average Canadian consumer, with prices soaring even above the thresholds necessary for EV incentive eligibility.

For instance, the cost for a Model 3 has now jumped to approximately CAD 80,000 (around USD 57,600), which is over USD 10,000 more than its pre-incentive price in the U.S. Many experts predict that this price surge will lead to a total collapse in demand for Tesla’s vehicles in Canada.

Tesla’s current inventory reveals that the automaker has been grappling with unsold vehicles in lots across the country, suggesting that demand has significantly waned.

However, analysts propose that the price increases may inadvertently bolster the value of used Tesla vehicles in Canada, which have seen a downward trend as current owners look to sever ties with the brand. As the situation develops, it remains to be seen how effective these price hikes will be in reviving Tesla’s fortunes in a market that appears increasingly hostile.
