When we played the Steam demo, many of us were pleasantly surprised. Lies of P, is a game that cleverly draws inspiration from the Souls series, with a meticulously crafted artistic style.

And the best part of it all, this game is coming to Game Pass on day one, just like Starfield, so Xbox service subscribers will be able to have a very entertaining 2023 for just a few dollars a month. Phil can be happy.

Well, we’re less than a month away from the release of Lies of P, the Soulslike game developed by NEOWIZ. And in what is probably one of the last interviews before the launch, Choi Ji-won, the game’s director, has talked about the game.

Exclusives from Gamescom 2023

At Gamescom 2023, the developer revealed that it will be necessary to play the game multiple times to understand the story. There will also be three different endings, likely based on Pinocchio’s ability to lie in certain situations.

“One thing we’ve planned from the beginning is that you won’t want to play it just once. If you’ve only played it once, it’s not complete. We strongly recommend that you play it multiple times,” the director explained.

“Basically, there are three endings. But really, really, really, we recommend playing until the very, very, very end,” Choi Ji-won concluded, hinting at a twist in the story.

The hype for this game didn’t start until a few months ago, even though Lies of P was first introduced in November 2021. The Steam demo has been the first stop on a train that hasn’t stopped gaining speed.

Strengths of a game that could be the sleeper hit of the year

What Lies of P seems to have done right, even in the PC demo version, is the performance, which has become somewhat of a rarity lately with so many faulty PC ports.

Despite being far from the most original Soulslike I’ve played, I have to admit I enjoyed the 3-hour demo of Lies of P much more than I expected.

With its unique setting, solid mechanics, good variety of enemies, intricate yet not confusing level design, and promises of a compelling story as P approaches Geppetto and becomes a real human, Lies of P shapes up to be one of the best Soulslike games not developed by From Software in a long time.

Lies of P will be released on September 19th for PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One. The game will be included in Game Pass on the first day.
