On July 6, 2023, fans of one of the most popular sports anime in history have a date at the cinemas. The First Slam Dunk, the movie about Slam Dunk, premieres in Spain, where the characters from the childhood of so many people return to show how they have evolved and what their story is.

Very popular in the late nineties, this anime about a basketball team captured the hearts of a generation of viewers and made it clear that basketball is also the king of sports. The story begins with a first-year high school student joining the basketball team to impress the girl he likes, but it goes far beyond that throughout its 101 episodes.

What is The First Slam Dunk about?

The Slam Dunk anime concluded in a closed manner, completing the journey of its protagonist team. However, what will the story of the movie exactly entail? Well, even though the anime had its ending, it didn’t fully cover the entire story from the manga… and that’s precisely what we will see in the feature film.

The movie will follow the events that were never adapted in the anime, allowing us to witness a direct continuation of the story. Therefore, you can’t watch the movie if you haven’t seen the anime before—or at least you won’t understand anything—but there’s still time to take a look at the story before heading to the theaters.

The First Slam Dunk arrives in cinemas thanks to Selecta Visión. The movie has already been released in Japan with great results, and on its journey around the world, it is also winning over all those who were once thrilled by basketball.
