It was sold as one of the best superhero movies of all time, but when it came out in theaters it became one of the biggest flops of 2023. We are talking about The Flash, one of the last films of the Snyderverse that the director of Justice League created in the audiovisual of DC Comics. And that now has just arrived on HBO Max.

That’s right, barely two months after its theatrical release, Flash, the film by Andrés Muschietti that has been one of the biggest failures of Warner Bros. this year, has just arrived on its own streaming platform. It has done so in a somewhat veiled way, without too much publicity and knowing that not many people are enthusiastic about this idea. But considering it only grossed 268 million from a base budget of 200, it’s clear they need it to work on HBO Max.

Is it essential to watch The Flash?

But is it worth watching The Flash now that it has arrived on HBO Max? There are many who had doubts about seeing it in theaters, but in the face of bad reviews and poor reception by the public, they finally stayed home. All of them now have a unique opportunity thanks to the VOD service. But will they do the same?

There are several reasons why watching The Flash on HBO Max is a good idea. It is, in spite of everything, a fun movie, full of humor, cameos of incredible actors and a quite emotional story in which even the Spanish actress Maribel Verdú appears. However, there are many other flaws that were blamed on the film, and the main one of them all is the CGI.

If you don’t care too much about special effects and just want to have a good time, The Flash is a movie worth spending an afternoon with… but little else. Keep in mind that this is not DC’s best audiovisual product, so if you really want to see a movie that excites you, run to the theater to see Blue Beetle.
