The Flash is now in theaters, and the film aims to serve as a clear connection between Zack Snyder’s established DC cinematic universe and the future of DC Studios under James Gunn. That’s why time travel, multiversal jumps, and cameos are prevalent; because it’s a movie made specifically for the fans.
Obviously, keeping this in mind, there are many surprises that we encounter in the film. From the appearance of a Batman that we knew nothing about until we saw it on the big screen, to many other intriguing revelations.
But if you’re someone who can’t wait to see it in theaters and want to know all the details about The Flash, below we’ll take a journey through the biggest spoilers that appear in the movie. We warn you, there are some hard-to-digest surprises.
Henry Cavill’s Superman shows up… to get out of being in the film
Henry Cavill‘s Superman has become almost a meme due to his cameo appearances in films like Shazam! and Black Adam. In the case of The Flash, another one is added to the list. When Alfred calls Barry Allen to help Batman in Gotham City, Flash asks why he doesn’t call Superman, and at that moment, the butler tells him that he’s busy.
But how busy is he? Well, it seems quite busy, as we see on the Batcave monitor that Superman is diverting the flow of lava from an erupting volcano in a nearby city. It appears that his figure is created using CGI.

Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman saves the day
Another DC heroine who has her particular cameo is Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, although this time she has a bit more screen time than the CGI-doubled Superman. Wonder Woman is also busy when Flash has to go save the day, but she finishes what she was doing and appears at the last moment in Gotham City to save Batman from falling off a bridge.

The Flash helped in the battle of Man of Steel
Although we didn’t know anything about Barry Allen’s past before the events of Justice League, The Flash features several flashbacks that explain his backstory. Among them, we see the character helping to evacuate people during the battle against Zod in Man of Steel… but since he’s still new to his powers, he quickly gets tired.

Aquaman does not exist in the alternate timeline
There are many changes in the alternate timeline that Barry Allen travels to when he goes back in time. Among the changes, Aquaman doesn’t exist because his father never met Atlanna, the Atlantean queen. There are also no records of Wonder Woman or Cyborg, so Barry can’t count on them for the battle against Zod.

Cavill’s Superman was killed as an infant by Zod
In this alternate timeline, Superman is nowhere to be found as Zod ended his life when he was just a child. Zod killed the baby in hopes of retrieving the stolen Growth Codex from Jor-El, but he realizes that it has been replaced with Kara Zor-El, Supergirl.

Supergirl and Michael Keaton’s Batman die on repeated occasions
While Supergirl and Batman fight against Zod’s Kryptonian invasion, they are killed by the aliens. However, the Flashes keep going back in time again and again to reverse the situation… until things become even more complicated.

Dark Flash is Barry Allen himself trying to save everyone
Dark Flash, known in the comics as Reverse-Flash, is a classic villain of Barry Allen. However, in the movie, they flip the script and it turns out to be Allen himself who has gone mad trying to find a way to save his friends and preserve the timeline, no matter how long it takes and how many attempts he has to make.

The DC Multiverse is real
As the different Flashes battle, the timeline crumbles, revealing dozens of alternate worlds colliding with each other. Among them, we see classic DC films and series, including Adam West’s Batman and Christopher Reeve’s Superman.

The Flash creates a new timeline where he saves his mother… and George Clooney is Batman
As we mentioned in another article, it’s a major revelation. After all the epic events in the film, Barry Allen travels back in time to let his mother die—a fate he cannot change—but in the process, he helps his father, who was wrongly accused of her murder, proving his innocence through the security footage.
This change may seem trivial, but as we see throughout the movie, even the flapping of a butterfly’s wings can have consequences. Thus, there are repercussions in the new universe that Flash finds himself in, and one of these consequences is that Batman is now portrayed by George Clooney.

Jason Momoa returns as Aquaman
Finally, we see a post-credits scene that hints at Arthur Curry’s return in his own movie, still portrayed by Jason Momoa. The scene is humorous and showcases Allen and Curry engaging in a battle of drinking prowess.
