Band of Brothers is one of the best series of recent decades. As we recently revealed with its arrival on Netflix, it is also the first of the (now trilogy) of series produced by Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg at intervals. The actor and director share a deep interest in World War II, and after their collaboration on “Saving Private Ryan,” they decided to work together on producing series that commemorate this historical event.

The first of these series was the mentioned Band of Brothers, but in 2010, they collaborated again, producing The Pacific, a series based on the United States Marine Corps during the same period. And now, it seems they have taken flight once again, as they have just revealed the trailer for their third collaboration in terms of miniseries: Masters of the Air.

A series filled with stars

Masters of the Air is an Apple TV+ exclusive series set to premiere on January 26, 2024, with episodes releasing weekly until its conclusion on March 15. The series features a cast of some of the most prominent actors of the moment, including Austin Butler (star of Elvis), Barry Keoghan, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Rafferty Law, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa as the main cast.

But what is Masters of the Air about? The official synopsis reveals: “During World War II, many aviators of the 100th Bomb Group (the Bloody Hundredth) risked their lives carrying out dangerous bombing raids over Nazi Germany, dealing with frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and the absolute terror of combat at 25,000 feet. Some were shot down and captured; others were injured or killed. And some were lucky enough to come home. Regardless of individual fates, all paid a price.”

Based on the eponymous book by Donald L. Miller, the series will focus on American bombers in the most significant conflict in history. We’ll see if it lives up to the standards set by the other two miniseries, although everything seems to indicate that it will.
