The Minecraft movie continues its rise at the global box office, reaching $816 million in revenue to date.
In its last week, it has grossed 60.5 million dollars, establishing itself as the most successful movie of the year so far.
Although it approaches 1.3 billion dollars achieved by The Super Mario Bros. Movie, it is still far from surpassing it. Notably, more than half of its revenue comes from markets outside the United States.

Despite the fact that the reviews have been mostly negative, the audience has responded enthusiastically, giving it a score of 86% on Rotten Tomatoes. This phenomenon is partly due to its virality on social media, especially regarding the Chicken Jockey scene, which has generated numerous viral videos and a festive atmosphere in theaters.
To capitalize on this success, Warner Bros. has announced special screenings under the name ‘Block Party Edition’, scheduled for May 2 in North America and in “selected international markets”.
These projections invite viewers to actively participate, cheering and singing along to the lyrics of the songs, which adds a new level of interaction with the film.
With the strong response from the audience and sustained box office growth, it is almost a certainty that a sequel will be produced. As discussed in various media, the popularity of the film and its connection to a vast fan base of Minecraft suggest that the franchise is not ready to close this chapter.
Meanwhile, the competition at the box office, with the release of new anticipated Disney movies, promises to continue challenging the success of this film based on the popular video game.
