Surprisingly, 2024 is turning out to be a great year for action movies. We’re only in April and we’ve already had gems like Monkey Man and Road House, and this is just the beginning of a year marked by the genre. Among all the movies of this kind, however, none comes close to Furiosa, the spin-off of Mad Max: Fury Road starring the wonderful Anya Taylor-Joy.

Back in the day, the latest installment of Mad Max was a complete madness in terms of action, stunts, and explosions, but Furiosa is not going to fall behind. In fact, as producer Doug Mitchell revealed in the publication Total Film, Furiosa features the biggest action scene that Miller himself has ever worked on.

15 minutes, 200 specialists and 78 days of shooting

According to Mitchell, the specific scene lasts a full 15 minutes, for which they had to shoot for 78 days. In addition, over 200 specialists worked on it, an impressive number that will undoubtedly be reflected in the final result. This is how the producer justifies it:

“George and I had great conversations about why this particular sequence was so long. It’s because you see a repertoire of skills throughout a battle, and that’s very important to understand how many resources Furiosa has, but also her determination. It’s the longest sequence that any of us have ever shot. On the day we finished, we gave everyone a bottle of Starway to Heaven wine!“.

Undoubtedly, George Miller wants to surpass his last great work with this film that seems to be not far behind at all. On May 24th, we will see the final result of Furiosa, but the truth is that it seems almost impossible that, at 79 years old, the filmmaker has managed to carry out such a work. It is worthy of admiration.
