It hasn’t been easy sailing for carrier DirecTV and political headliner Newsmax. They’ve been waging a virtual war against each other, with each one broadcasting bad news about the other. With matters seeming resolved, it seems like there’s a deal in site for DirecTV to continue broadcasting Newsmax’s political news.
So, there are two interesting sides to this story. On the Newsmax side, there’s a political view. It believes that DirecTV is trying to silence conservative views. Even Republicans want to hold a hearing against the carrier, which could have dire consequences. Well, it would definitely be bad for business. Newsmax has gone out of its way to state publicly that DirecTV doesn’t want conservative views being aired.

Then you have the DirecTV view. The company says it has nothing to do with politics. Apparently, Newsmax wanted millions of dollars if DirecTV wanted to air its programmed news. If this deal went through, customers would be paying through the roof to view the content.
DirecTV was also not happy with the slander that Newsmax caused. They made the issue very political and brought Republicans into the debate. To DT, it feels like Newsmax is playing the harp to its own agenda, creating misleading information just to make sure the deal goes through.
Be that as it may, it looks like the deal may go down peacefully, unless the Republicans go through with the hearing. We’ll have to wait and see what happens.
