Netflix and oriental series have a bigger match than Apple TV+ with science fiction. The truth is that Ted Sarandos’ streaming platform has found a safe place on this continent to fully exploit its production. Undoubtedly, with fictions like Squid Game or Alice in Borderland, it is achieving unparalleled success, and to that is added the k-dramas that have a very loyal audience.

Now, a new Thai series has just landed on the platform with a mix of ingredients that will please all fans of the genre. Ready, set, love! is a romantic comedy set in a dystopia that would be a nightmare for many but a dream for many others.

A very funny cheesiness

Ready, set, love! tells the challenge that women would have in a world where the male population keeps decreasing until, ultimately, disappearing. In this world, women compete to marry one of the young men living in an exclusive farm, putting their feminine wiles to the test to achieve it.

In the series, Day, a young woman from humble origins, is chosen to compete in a government-sponsored dating contest. Her participation in the program is motivated by the desire to obtain specialized medical resources for her sick sister. Throughout the program, Day is determined to win, but she faces shocking revelations that question the integrity of the contest. Despite her initial resistance, Day meets Son, one of the five participating bachelors, which adds a new dimension to her experience. Take a look at the program preview to find out more.

The series, although it may be ethically complex, has very funny moments and perfectly combines reality show, romance, comedy, and suspense with what is happening in the world. In addition, it only has six episodes of just over an hour, so it is perfect for a weekend marathon.
