Less than two years ago, the world was delighted with one of the most impactful musical biopics of the last decade. Elvis conquered the audience with a daring proposal in which Tom Hanks rose to his usual state of grace playing the villainous Colonel Tom Parker. With Austin Butler in an equally convincing and surprising role, the film reached the top in the race for the Oscars.

However, the film did not consider all points of view about Elvis’ life, or so Sofia Coppola argues. The daughter of Francis Ford Coppola and director of great films like Lost in Translation or Marie Antoinette is willing to make her own film about Elvis’ life. But not about the singer directly or his manager, but about the woman who was always there: Priscilla. Below is the trailer for one of the most talked-about films for the awards season:

A love story like you wouldn’t imagine

With a release date set for February 14, 2024 in Spain, the film, already released in the United States, aims to make a statement in the final turn of the awards season. Many already consider the film to be one of the best by its director, and above all, it stands out in portraying a forgotten but more interesting perspective than it may seem. Here is the synopsis:

“When teenager Priscilla Beaulieu meets Elvis Presley at a party, he is already a meteoric rock and roll superstar but becomes someone completely unexpected in private moments: a thrilling crush, a companion in loneliness, a vulnerable best friend”.

The movie is based on the memoirs Elvis and Me, written by Priscilla Beaulieu Presley, published in 1985, which recount the long courtship and turbulent marriage of Elvis and Priscilla, from a German military base to their dream estate in Graceland.
