At the Pokemon Presents event, although it may seem unexpected, we have witnessed the announcement of several novelties such as a new video game titled Pokémon Champions that celebrates the 29th anniversary of the franchise. This title will be available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices with iOS and Android systems, although a specific release date has not yet been specified.
Mega-evolve!
Pokémon Champions promises to centralize the Pokémon battle experience in one place, emphasizing the technical and strategic aspects that have captured players’ attention over the years. The official trailer description highlights the intention to provide a consolidated experience that encompasses the fighting mechanics that have been popular in the competitive scene and in unofficial simulators.
One of the most interesting features of the game is its link to Pokémon Home, an application that allows players to manage their Pokémon teams from Pokémon Scarlet/Violet and other generations. This integration will facilitate cross-play between platforms, allowing fans to enjoy their Pokémon on both consoles and mobile devices.
It is anticipated that Pokémon Champions will feature multiple game modes, suggesting a significant evolution in the franchise’s approach. The return of mega evolutions has been confirmed, along with the inclusion of tera evolutions, thus expanding the tactical options available to players. However, the Pokémon Company has indicated that there are currently no plans to include the Pokémon TCG Pocket in official competitions, which could signal a shift in their strategic priorities.
This announcement underscores the Pokémon Company’s intention to attract both new players and veterans, providing an environment that explores new paths in a series that, until now, had been more focused on individual stories and adventures.
