Nvidia is drastically reducing the production of its RTX 4060 graphics cards by at least 60% since February, according to rumors from the Board Channels forum in China, known for its leaks about hardware and supply chains.
This decrease in production could imply a significant reduction in the availability of the product in the global market, as this move might possibly extend to other regions.
With this measure, Nvidia could be paving the way for a new generation of graphics cards.
The RTX 5060 will be Nvidia’s mid-range GPU for the next three years
It is speculated that the RTX 5060 will be launched in March 2025, which could be the reason behind the decrease in production of the RTX 4060. Additional rumors suggest that this new model will not require a 12VHPWR connector, thus making the upgrade easier for users.
This evolution in Nvidia’s offerings highlights the usual dynamics in the graphics card market, where the launch of new technology frequently coincides with the reduction of stock of previous models.
Although production is decreasing, there will still be RTX 4060 stock available in stores and distributors. However, over time, these cards are expected to become less common as the year progresses.
Despite the possibility that the 4060 model may not disappear immediately, Nvidia’s strategy could result in a shortage of this product in the near future.
It is important to consider that, although these rumors have been shared by sources close to the industry, the information should be approached with caution. The current situation of the RTX 4060 and the anticipation for the RTX 5060 highlight the complexities of the graphics card market, where supply and demand are constantly changing.
