During these last hours we have known a lot of information about the expected The Sims 5, or better known by the codename Project Rene. After publishing that The Sims 4 is already free, the desire to know more about the title of Electronic Arts and Maxis is huge, hence a rumor that has been going around for months circulated about it: is The Sims 5 an MMO?

Grant Rodiek, director of this Project Rene, has come out to talk at length about the game, as well as to put all the rumors to rest: “Project Rene is not an MMO“. “It’s not a public space where everything you share or do will always be with other people. The idea is that you can play alone, in your own way, and when you feel like it you can invite more people to your gaming experience. That’s the structure we’re looking for and we think it’s wonderful and perfect for The Sims.

With these statements, the director puts to rest all the rumors surrounding the game. In fact, he further clarified: “We know that our players want to have intimate, personal experiences where they explore stories and ideas in the single player, but there are also really cool things they can do with others by sharing and creating with your friends”.

The Sims 5 team, therefore, is not looking for the single-player experience to disappear, but rather for it to transform, to change to something where the community can be a part of if that user wants to. “We fully recognize and accept that The Sims can be a private and intimate outlet to explore things on your own. Playing solo or with people is always going to be a personal decision for everyone.”

At the moment, there is still no release date for the game, although Maxis has already announced that this will take several years.
