With the arrival of the iPhone, fans of the iPod saw how their great friend succumbed to the inevitable passage of technological evolution, now being relegated to nostalgia. But what if there was a useful way to keep the memory alive? The tinyPod has just hit the market, a case for the Apple Watch that transforms Apple’s smartwatch into a miniature version of the famous music player.

The tinyPod was originally introduced in May and its design is clearly inspired by the iPod. The case wraps around the main body of the Apple Watch, leaving out the straps, and comes in two versions: tinyPod and tinyPod Lite. The tinyPod includes a scroll wheel similar to the one on the iPod that, when turned, moves the digital crown of the watch, hidden by the case. On the other hand, the tinyPod Lite does not have this wheel and exposes the digital crown, allowing for its usual use.

The tinyPod is available in several sizes: 40/41 mm, 44/45 mm, and 49 mm (the latter compatible with the Apple Watch Ultra). Prices vary depending on the size: $79.99 for the smaller sizes and $89.99 for the larger size. On the other hand, the tinyPod Lite costs $29.99 for the smaller sizes and $39.99 for the 49 mm size. Most versions will be shipped this summer, although some will be available in the fall.

The creators of the tinyPod claim that the device is designed to carry the Apple Watch without the need for the iPhone. If the Apple Watch has cellular capability, it will allow you to make calls and perform other functions without the phone. In addition, the design exposes the watch’s rear sensor, which is useful for measuring health statistics. However, since it cannot be attached to the wrist, it is not practical for measuring health parameters throughout the day.
