If you’ve entered Twitter today, you’ve probably seen thirty or so tweets talking about the same video game, an incredibly realistic one that looks like a video instead of a game. Well, you should know that it is a title developed with Unreal Engine 5.
True innovation in the first-person shooter genre is relatively rare, but it looks like the upcoming indie game called Unrecord may bring something truly new to the table.
What is Unrecord and why does it seem to be a breaker?
This is a tactical shooter in which the action is shown from the perspective of a police body camera. And that’s because, again, it’s not the video of a policeman in Ukraine, it’s a video game.
In addition to intense shootouts on the ground, the game will feature some immersive simulation elements, such as talking to people, choosing dialogue options that will take us down different story paths, and much more.
But ultimately, it’s the look and feel of the game that sets Unrecord apart. Developed with Unreal Engine 5, the game is impressive on a technical level.
While you could take a screenshot of any moment and say “yeah, that looks like a video game”, in motion the combination of the stunning lighting, reflections and unpredictable camera makes the game look astonishingly real.
Impressive. I wonder how much fun it will be to play, as excessive camera movement is often a problem in shooters. That said, there’s no denying that it’s eye-catching. Feel free to add the game to your wishlist on Steam if you want.
What is Unrecord about, what is its plot?
“Unrecord is a tactical shooter in which players can expect an immersive, narrative-driven experience. It includes complex dialogues, innovative gameplay mechanics, tough moral dilemmas and a unique shooting system. Unrecord’s storyline can be compared to that of a detective novel or a thriller,” explains its website.
According to its developers, the player will have to investigate several criminal cases and face a varied cast of characters. The game’s plot and presentation will be central to the gaming experience, and players can anticipate a number of gameplay sequences, as well as numerous plot twists.

Where and how you can play Unrecord
We know Unrecord will be coming to PC and other unspecified platforms, but they will almost certainly be next-gen. We assume PS5 and Xbox S|X Series.
The game has no release date, but its developer, DRAMA, says it is in “pre-production”. You can pre-order the game now on Steam.
