Logitech has unveiled its new tool, the Logi AI Prompt Builder, which allows you to start ChatGPT, the popular OpenAI chatbot, with just the press of a specific button on your mouse or keyboard.
More than just presenting a chatbot, this tool offers predefined “recipes” for various functions. For example, the Logi AI Prompt Builder allows you to rephrase text paragraphs, convert them into bullet points, shorten them, or adjust their length. It can also summarize press releases and even generate custom images, in the case of ChatGPT Plus subscribers.
Although this tool seems promising, it requires a compatible Logitech mouse, which means that some users would have to upgrade their hardware. Additionally, in the experience of Emilia David from The Verge, the software only started correctly when it was not in any browser window, which can be inconvenient for some users.
Logitech will also release a special edition of its M750 mouse, equipped with a dedicated button to launch the Logi AI Prompt Builder. This model will be initially available in the United States and the United Kingdom for a price of $49.99 or £54.99, respectively. However, it is important to note that the use of this software requires a compatible Logitech device, as it is part of the Logi Options+ software package.
At the moment, the Logi AI Prompt Builder is only compatible with ChatGPT and only understands English. However, Logitech has expressed interest in expanding its compatibility with other chatbots in the future.
This initiative seems to be a strategy by Logitech to boost sales of their peripherals, and it is something that other companies are already working on. For example, soon we will have an exclusive button on our keyboards to use Copilot, Microsoft‘s AI, without the need to open the application or go to its website.
