The 2024 Oscars have stood out for being one of the most competitive in recent years. Without a doubt, the extremely high level set by films like Pobres criaturas and Oppenheimer made it clear that Hollywood is, despite everything, in a good moment in terms of quality. But there is someone who is not taking it so well: Martin Scorsese.

The director of Taxi Driver received up to 10 nominations for the Oscar for Killers of the Flower Moon. However, he didn’t win any statuette in the end. Not even Lily Gladstone, who was strongly rumored to win the award for Best Leading Actress, managed to do it. And this makes Scorsese the biggest loser in Oscars history.

A difficult achievement to overcome

With Killers of the Flower Moon, it is the third time that Scorsese’s highly nominated films have been left without a single award. It already happened with Gangs of New York and with The Irishman, and since the 80s he was usually seen at the galas as practically just a spectator. However, the worst result is still held by Footloose, directed by Herbert Ross, which was nominated for 11 awards and didn’t win any.
