The Emmy Awards serve, like the Golden Globes, to reward the best series of the year and also to showcase some hidden gems that had gone unnoticed by most of the audience. Every year, there is a great series or movie that is discovered through these awards, and in the 2024 ceremony, there has been a clear winner.

Encerrado con el diablo (Black Bird) had a great success in its premiere in the United States, but not so much internationally. And yet, it has received 3 nominations and an award at the Emmys. The nominations have gone to Taron Egerton as lead actor and to Ray Liotta and Paul Walter Hauser as supporting actors. Finally, it was Hauser who took home the statuette.

A great series from Apple TV+

Paul Walter Hauser, also an actor in top-level films like I, Tonya and Richard Jewell, plays Larry Hall in Black Bird, an alleged murderer whom the series protagonist, James Keene, must get a guilty plea from. However, Hall will make it very, very difficult for Keene, thus facing the biggest challenge of his life.

The original series of Apple TV+ has the same problem as the rest of the platform’s fictions: despite being a success in the United States, it doesn’t quite make an impact in its international journey. However, Apple TV+ is stepping up its game like never before, and besides being the home of science fiction, it keeps releasing new top-notch series and movies that position it as the best in current streaming.

Undoubtedly, Apple TV+ is taking a stable and very interesting path when it comes to creating its fictions, and Encerrado con el diablo is the latest example of how high it can reach thanks to its quality. We will see if Encerrado con el diablo is just another example of how far they can go with their series.
