Apple is preparing the ground for an international expansion of its first space computer, the Vision Pro, as discovered in the visionOS code published by MacRumors. It has been discovered that Apple plans to add support for 12 new languages to the virtual keyboard of the Vision Pro. So far, the device only offered support for English (US) and emojis, a understandable limitation given that its availability was restricted to the United States. But now the situation is changing.

9 candidates and 12 new languages

The languages that will be added include Cantonese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), English (Australia), English (Canada), English (Japan), English (Singapore), English (United Kingdom), French (Canada), French (France), German (Germany), Japanese, and Korean. This linguistic expansion, in addition to improving the accessibility and usability of the device for a wider range of users within the United States, also hints at Apple’s upcoming target markets for the launch of the Vision Pro.

We are talking about Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the United Kingdom, which are emerging as the main candidates. Additionally, we could also see Hong Kong and Taiwan on the list of new markets, given the inclusion of support for traditional Cantonese.

Let’s remember that Apple has officially confirmed its intention to bring the Vision Pro to more countries throughout the year, although without specifying exact dates or possible candidates. In this context, Ming-Chi Kuo suggests that the company could accelerate the availability of the Vision Pro in these additional markets before the Worldwide Developers Conference in June.

Undoubtedly, adding more languages to the Vision Pro operating system is the first step towards international expansion. An expansion that includes these nine countries, but may include some others. While Zuckerberg claims that the Meta Quest 3 is better, sooner or later, we should see the Vision Pro in all international markets.
