Operación Triunfo is a television format that goes through constant ups and downs. The program that saw the birth of artists like David Bisbal or Aitana is original from TVE, where it began in the early 2000s and was recovered in 2017 with another three editions. However, it has been jumping to other televisions such as Telecinco, and now it has landed on Amazon Prime Video.

As reported by VerTele, Prime has acquired the rights to the musical program, which ceased to interest TVE after three seasons following its renewal. This caused Tinet Rubira, head of Gestmusic that manages its rights, to look for a new home for the timeless format, and has finally found a buyer in Jeff Bezos’ platform.

When will Operación Triunfo premiere on Amazon Prime Video?

According to Prime‘s plans, the new edition of Operación Triunfo will premiere between late 2023 and early 2024. Moreover, although it will be in streaming, it will be adapted as the format is, with live galas that can be followed on the platform and a 24-hour live channel that subscribers will be able to follow.

This will be the 12th edition of Operación Triunfo, and if it works well, it will surely give way to many others, since Amazon Prime Video is the “best” platform when it comes to dealing with its audiovisual products, with renewal always ahead of cancellations -learn, Netflix-.

We do not know if OT’s audience, used to watching it on television, will adapt correctly to this new format. However, it seems a logical leap for a program that is designed for young audiences. Of course, on platforms it will be much easier to follow.
