Secret Invasion is one of the series that best embodies the spirit of Marvel Studios, and despite not being a huge audience phenomenon, it is laying the groundwork for the entire future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This week, we will receive its final episode on Disney Plus, and things couldn’t be more intriguing.

While Nick Fury single-handedly battles against the Gravik revolution, which has led to the revelation that War Machine is a Skrull infiltrator, no one else seems to be doing anything to save the Earth. The moment is crucial, and the former head of SHIELD is left with almost no support. But, at the end of episode 1×05, Fury makes a call that could change everything.

Captain Marvel or Phantom

“It’s time. Let’s settle this.” Those are the only words we hear Nick Fury say during the cryptic phone call. But who exactly is he talking to? Being the creator of The Avengers, it must be someone who can change everything, but it’s hard to pinpoint exactly who that might be.

Our bets are on two heroines who have a lot to do with the Skrull invasion: Captain Marvel and Phantom. The first one already had an evident connection with the Skrulls in her own movie, and she even became their worst enemy until Fury decided to accept them on Earth. Now she could return to finish what she started with the Kree.

As for Phantom , she also appeared in the movie as Monica Rambeau, and while we await her appearance in The Marvels, the actress from Wandavision could play an essential role in this series. Undoubtedly, it would be a great debut for her superheroine role, as well as the key to finally putting an end to this revolution. We’ll soon have the answer on Disney Plus.
