XCharge North America (XCharge NA) and Hypercharge Networks have joined forces to introduce bidirectional DC fast chargers across Canada, focusing initially on British Columbia and Ontario.
This innovative partnership aims to bolster the country’s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, which is becoming increasingly critical as demand for charging stations continues to rise.
The cornerstone of this initiative is the GridLink 300 kW DC fast charger, a state-of-the-art technology that not only charges vehicles but also enhances grid stability.
Bidirectional DC Fast Chargers: A Game Changer For Rural Energy In Canada
With an impressive battery storage capacity of 215 kilowatt-hours (kWh), expandable to 430 kWh, these chargers enable energy flow back into the grid, making them a vital resource for areas facing grid limitations.
One notable advantage of the GridLink chargers is their capability to integrate seamlessly with renewable energy sources, such as solar panels. This feature is particularly beneficial for rural locales where traditional electrical infrastructure is still under development, paving the way for a more sustainable energy future. As businesses look to avoid costly upgrades to grid infrastructure, the GridLink charger presents an effective solution.
Hypercharge will handle the distribution, customer support, and maintenance of these chargers across various automotive dealerships and commercial customers in Canada. Additionally, the Hypercharge team will receive specialized training from XCharge NA, ensuring they are equipped to manage technical repairs, thereby enhancing the reliability of the charging network.
Aatish Patel, co-founder and president of XCharge NA, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “We look forward to seeing how our GridLinks can help strengthen Canada’s grid stability, particularly in rural deployments, while also addressing the region’s growing demand for EVs and supporting electric transportation needs.”
