Netflix is having a great year in terms of series. It started off strong in January with Griselda, and still riding the success of Berlín a few weeks earlier. It continued with a big hit in February, Avatar: The Last Airbender, a series that has been renewed for two more seasons. And now it continues with a new March hit that is making waves on the VOD service: The Gentlemen.

The new series by Guy Ritchie based on the 2019 film of the same name has received very good reviews from critics, and the audience also agrees that it is a kind of spiritual sequel to Peaky Blinders. But why is it worth watching The Gentlemen? What makes it so special?

A series to binge-watch and get exhausted

First of all, the role of Guy Ritchie as a director is palpable in every frame. The quintessential action spy director creates one of his most well-rounded works here, undoubtedly achieved thanks to a committed cast and a story that, narratively, surpasses most of his films. It hooks you from the very beginning and doesn’t let go until the end.

In addition, Theo James is turning out to be a very pleasant surprise. The protagonist of Divergent and actor in The White Lotus had briefly disappeared from the scene, but has returned as a true British heartthrob who looks great in his pairing with Guy Ritchie. He would make a great James Bond.

But he is not alone in this. Kaya Scodelario is fantastic as the female lead of the series, and leading the way, of course, is Giancarlo Espósito, already a classic in series of this kind. Without a doubt, The Gentlemen is a series to binge-watch and get exhausted.
