On Monday, the news broke that Elon Musk was scrapping Twitter to transform the social network into a multi-purpose app called X. Farewell name and farewell logo, after so many years together, Twitter is dead. And it seems like X doesn’t have much time left either.

And why do we say this? Well, because even the latest major change, with its shiny new logo, has already undergone yet another design change in less than 48 hours. If they can’t even decide on a logo, how can they run a company that aims to be an all-in-one platform?

Let’s take a look at what has happened with the X logo since Monday, as the story unfolds in a both humorous and sad way. Many of us see this as the end of a beloved social network we once cherished.

Elon Musk, after replacing Twitter’s iconic blue bird logo with an X, has once again made another change. On Tuesday evening, Musk replaced the X logo on Twitter with one that has slightly thicker lines… only to say that he would revert the change.

“I don’t like the thicker bars, so reverting,” Musk wrote on Twitter. “The logo will evolve over time.” You can see how the two logos compare in the image below.

The updated logo had already appeared on Twitter’s homepage, and Musk even changed his profile picture to match. However, neither of the two logos has appeared in the Twitter mobile app.

On Sunday, Musk announced that he was going to change the name of Twitter to “X” and said that if someone sent a logo “good enough” that night, he would post it the next day.

The first version of the logo closely resembles the Special Alphabets 4 font from Monotype and also matches a Unicode character. Musk stated that it would serve as a “provisional” design, although it is not clear when (or if) he will decide on a final design. What is clear is that they are changing direction with every tweet.
