The incombustible Rosalía has just presented ‘Tuya’, a new very sensual and experimental track that mixes reggeaton with koto strings, a Japanese national instrument.
The video was directed by Stillz, with whom she had previously worked with the singer and Rauw Alejandro in VAMPIROS. Rosalía does not hide her love for Japan (and especially Tokyo), the indirect protagonist of the music video. Through a statement from Sony Music, Rosalía explains that “exploring is part of what I am as a musician and in the case of ‘Tuya’, inspirations such as reggeaton, Asian music or gabber techno coexist at the same level”.

Is ‘Yours’ dedicated to Hunter Schafer?
As usual for the singer, the release of Tuya has been accompanied by some controversy. In this case, it has been this Twitter thread that explains why ‘Tuya’ could be a covert dedication to Hunter Schafer, one of the actresses of ‘Euphoria‘.
In that thread they talk about the great friendship they both had publicly in 2019. It was not uncommon to see them together at events and shindigs of all kinds (even at the MET gala). The user (@motocarl on Twitter) also lets slip that the ‘relationship’ between the two ended due to the irruption of Rauw Alejandro, Rosalía’s current partner.
In fact, in the great list of tweets we can see an excerpt of the interview that Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro did with Ibai Llanos for their channel. There, the singer states that before meeting the singer, she “had lost faith in masculinity”. Coincidence?
