Idle Superpowers, as the name suggests, is an idle game. Like most games in the subgenre, it falls under strategy. You will need to come up with a plan to harness more than 100 powers and combine them all. To make things more challenging, all the powers in the game are randomly generated so you’ll need to decide on the fly. Enemies are also present in this game and will appear at random, too. 

Role-playing as an aspiring superhero and fighting bad guys sounds fun but, the game’s graphics, layout, and scoring put a damper on the concept. First, the characters or avatars are hand-drawn, two-dimensional illustrations. They closely resemble a Mr. Potato Head toy as its body is oval-shaped with arms and legs sticking out. You can opt to purchase skins as the game progresses to make their appearance appeal to you. 

Second, the layout is mostly dedicated to statistics, meters, and text instead of the action, not that there is much action to begin with. The characters typically throw punches and kicks, which push the characters to move left or right. Lastly, the game’s only score or sound are the grunts and moans of the avatars so you’re usually playing in silence until one of the heroes hits the other.

Idle Superpowers offers a great concept that players can get behind on; gather as many superpowers as you can and combine them to take down your opponents. The addition of randomly generated powers and enemies also makes the gameplay dynamic. What players may not be pleased with is the appearance and sound of the game as it is dull and text-heavy for an action game.
