PicoPDF is a free productivity program developed by NCH Software for PC devices. This software serves as both a PDF reader and an editor that help users open their documents and modify their content. It enables them to add or remove images or text easily.

PicoPDF is a simpler and more lightweight alternative to other popular PDF programs, such as Sumatra PDF and Foxit Reader. What's more, it can be used completely offline and does not rely on an active internet connection to be able to perform certain functions as others do.

How do I use PicoPDF?

PicoPDF features a simple and intuitive user interface. It utilizes a ribbon-style design so it will be fairly familiar to users of Microsoft Office. To add a new document, you can click on the Open icon to browse for it. Alternatively, you can also drag-and-drop the file to the program as it supports that functionality too. From there, you can use it like you would any other PDF reader, with your mouse wheel for scrolling through pages.

Now, if you want to modify your document, you can click on any text, and it would turn into a textbox wherein you can make changes or add something. You can also refer to the toolbar at the top to refer to the different actions that you can do. As mentioned earlier, adding images to your PDFs is also a possibility with PicoPDF. It supports multiple formats, including JPG, PNG, and BMP, to name a few.

Overall speed and performance in PicoPDF could use some work and improvements, though. When used as a reader and adjusting the zoom slider, rendering is rather slow compared to other programs. The same can be said when it comes to adding images to your documents, with it taking a bit longer than usual to process.

Simple and handy for quick edits

If all you need is a simple program to be able to edit text and add images to your PDF documents, PicoPDF is worth taking a look at. It does not have the most exhaustive list of features, nor is it the fastest one around, but it gets the job done. Also, considering that it is completely free, it's hard to complain about anything too much.
