DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that the term “hack and slash” originated from tabletop roleplaying games like Dungeons and Dragons? Hack and slash games are generally denoted as games with campaigns with plenty of elements of violence with little to no narrative stories or significant goal, favoring a focus on combat using hand-to-hand weapons as opposed to guns and/or fists. One of the most popular hack and slash games in this period of time is For Honor, which features combat between three different factions of warriors from varying periods of time. The game lets players choose between characters from these factions, represented by knights, samurai, and Vikings, to take part in its single-player campaign.

As an alternative, one can dive into For Honor’s multiplayer feature wherein gamers are thrown into real-time combat against other people in different game modes, each with their respective winning conditions. For Honor has generally received positive reviews, despite criticisms for it having an awful narrative story, with video game and entertainment media companies IGN and GameSpot giving an 8/10 in their ratings. Critics praised the game’s complex and intricate combat system, utilized differently by varying classes from the three factions, with each possessing their own unique battle styles, strengths, weaknesses, and skills.
