Step forward PearHoliday, a simple application for Palm designed to help you keep track of the holidays and religious dates for the coming weeks and months. It boasts a database of more than 300 festivities, so that's almost a whole year's worth of celebrating.

The interface is very clutter free and makes it easy to browse through the holiday calendar, as each fiesta day is organised hierarchically by country and religion. It's spectrum is pretty broad too and covers seven countries (Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Spain, UK, USA). The heavywieghts of the religious world are also catered for (Catholic, Christian, Islamic, Jewish), although Buddhist and Hindu festivals are disappointingly missing from the list.

Each entry has its own description of the origins of the festival or why it is marked. Another great thing about PearHoliday is that allows you to export the data into your Memo and Datebook apps on your Palm, meaning that you can really ensure that you never miss an important date in the holiday calendar.

Anyway, MobiSystems Diets is designed to help you take control of both your diet and your exercise routine from your Palm device. You start by entering some personal details about yourself, such as your height, weight, age, etc., before inputting the amount of weight you'd like to lose, gain or maintain as it is.

Once all this is established, which doesn't take long, you need to enter the timescale over which you'd like this weight change to occur, choosing the start and end points from the calendar. Then comes the fun part - every day, you can record all of the food and drink that you eat by clicking on the sandwich icon. Click the add icon to look up an item of food from the database, or use the built-in search to find it. The program displays all the calorie content information about that food. You then enter the amount of that food that you've had today and it's added to the list.

The exercise section of Diets allows you to record your daily activities in much the same way as recording what you've eaten. Then comes the clever bit - the app analyses in real-time the total calories consumed and expended and tells you whether you need to eat more or exercise more in order to meet your targets.

This Palm app is designed to help you keep track of everything you eat and monitor how much exercise you're doing. Weightmania Mobile works as a kind-of diary where, if you're stringent with how you use it, you can record and analyze pretty much everything you do to your body.

There are five main areas of the program, which you can access by clicking on their appropriate icon. These are: Journal, Calendar, Chart, Statistics and Calculators.

The main section of Weightmania Mobile is the Journal, which is organized into different tabs for recording meals, workouts, measurements, medical details, and entering notes in a general diary. The database of foods and exercise types is very comprehensive, which is great, but it does take a while to search. Once you've recorded all of the data in the journal, then you can really start analyzing and tracking your regime using the various statistics and graphing tools within Weightmania Mobile.

There's no doubt that Weightmania Mobile offers a very thorough way to monitor your exercise and weight loss. However, it can also get a bit daunting given the sheer weight of options, tabs, forms and drop-down-menus in the program.
