It can be a bit of a pain to have to open up iCal every time you want to look at your events. This little widget gives you access to them straight from your Dashboard.

With iCal Events you can select which event calendars to show and how many days to display, from today to two weeks. For each day the widget will display events with corresponding time and the calendar color code.

Clicking on an event will automatically open it up in iCal.
iCal Events is resizable, so if you've planned it to show events for a few days, you can stretch it out on the Dashboard and have it display all of them at once.

I firmly encourage anyone regularly using iCal to have this widget installed on their Dashboard.
Calaboration-Sync iCal with Google Calendar

http://calaboration.en.softonic.com/mac

If you're used to either iCal or Google Calendar then it's a shame to have to choose between the two. Both are great organizational tools in different ways.

Calaboration lets you have it all by allowing you to keep both iCal and Google Calendar in sync so you never need to choose between using one or the other again. And it works absolutely seamlessly. All changes you make in either iCal or Google Calendar are synced in real-time (assuming of course that you are connected to the internet). If you're not, then the two applications will update the next time you are connected.

Setup is extremely easy. You're asked to enter your Google Account username and password so that iCal and sync with it. You're also asked if you want to add the e-mail address you've supplied to be added to your iCal contacts. From them on, it's plain sailing. Simply add and change appointments in either app and the two update simultaneously.

There's little to fault with Calaboration. It does a simple but effective job of meaning your iCal and Google Calendar appointments and reminders are always in sync.

Download Calaboration in Softonic

http://anxiety.en.softonic.com/mac

Anxiety is a new to-do list app built specifically for Leopard. It synchronizes well with Mail and iCal and serves up a discreet yet attractive interface.

The application makes use of Leopard's Calendar Store function so syncing with both Mail and iCal works seamlessly. We enjoyed the sleek dark grey interface, which lists up tasks, with the total number appearing at the bottom of the window. You can check or uncheck these and swap between different lists by clicking on the drop down title list.

Anxiety also makes it very easy to create and add new notes in a second. You can also choose to have the program's icon appear either in your menu bar or on the Dock. Anxiety can hide away when inactive and appear at login.

Adobe Photoshop Elements 10-Superb professional photo editing package

http://adobe-photoshop-elements.en.softonic.com/mac

iPhoto offers fairly basic photo editing options but to really impress with your images, you can´t do much better than Adobe Photoshop Elements.

Adobe Photoshop Elements integrates seamlessly with Adobe Bridge CS5 software and provides instant organization of your images. Most importantly, it also includes a custom viewing workspace and full-screen previews and locating images is made easier thanks to tagging options.

Previously, Adobe Photoshop Elements lacks some of the more advanced features available in Windows but version 10 means that it now includes all of the intelligent photo-editing options as found the Windows version. Particular features worth noting are Photomerge Exposure, Recompose and Quick Fix previews and an excellent Scene Cleaner for brushing away unwanted elements from images. The Scene Cleaner also allows you to touch-up photos such as whitening teeth or intensifying colors to give your images a true professional touch.

There are very few downsides to Adobe Photoshop Elements although it can be very slow to open. However, when it finally does open, all actions are performed at lightening speed. Version 9 has also addressed many of the drawbacks from the previous version including the ability to quickly share photos and videos on Facebook and support for Mac multitouch. The new Photomerge technology also allows you to take the best of two photos to create an improved image.

The only issues some users have with Adobe Photoshop Elements is that Adobe still don't issue incremental updates for it.

Overall, Adobe Photoshop Elements is a superb photo editing application that offers all the power you need to create stunning professional results.

Download Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 in Softonic

DateLine 1.1.0-Discreet desktop calendar to access iCal

http://dateline.en.softonic.com/mac

There are so many calendar and organizational apps out there that the market for them has become more than a little saturated.

DateLine attempts to distinguish itself from the bunch by displaying a linear calendar on your desktop in a solid color or transparent line. This means that along your desktop, you have a piano keyboard-style layout of days of the month which you can double click on and then edit directly in iCal.

You can customize the background and text colors of the days, or simply turn them transparent to make them a little more discreet. I would recommend this because otherwise, it does tend to blight your desktop a little.

Overall though, there isn't much point to dateline. There are a host of applications for making iCal more easily accessible and the best solution of all, of course, is to have iCal open all the time. Dateline doesn't even highlight important daily events either which means it's only useful as a tool to access iCal and not to see what's coming up.

If for some reason you don't like having iCal open all the time or have your dock hidden, you may find some use for Dateline, although it's hardly a revolutionary app.

Download DateLine 1.1.0 in Softonic

Moon Phase Calendar 1.0-Moon phases on your iCal

http://moon-phase-calendar.en.softonic.com/mac

Curious as to the different phases of the moon? You can install this Moon Phase Calendar for iCal to keep track of them.

The calendar is for the period from 2008 to 2015 and will give you both the name and percentage of a moon cycle. For example 75% is disseminating and 25% waxing crescent. Moon Phase Calendar is essentially an ICS file, which you will need to save somewhere where your sure not to lose it. Double click on it to launch it in iCal. You'll then have to select which calendar to associate it to.

It would have been nice to see a bit more information in the Moon Phase Calendar, like some details of the different moon cycles or an image of what the moon looks like during one of them. Still, Moon Phase Calendar is very simple to add to your iCal and doesn't take much space either. You can even edit the events if you wish to add your own details or an alarm.

Mozilla Sunbird 0.9.0-Calendar application from the creator of Firefox

http://mozilla-sunbird.en.softonic.com/mac

If you're a fan of the Firefox web browser then there's a good chance that you'll like Sunbird which has been made by the same developer, Mozilla.

Unfortunately, not all of Mozilla's software is as good as Firefox but Sunbird is still a worthwhile cross-platform calendar application that's built upon Mozilla's XUL language. Note that Sunbird is still very much a work in progress and as such, even the name of the application could change soon according to Mozilla.

The interface of Mozilla Sunbird is very simple. Adding an event simply involves clicking on the 'Add Event' box in the top left-hand corner. The same goes for New Tasks. There's also a powerful search tool that finds events by keyword. Like most of Mozilla's products, it also seems very safe and allows you to set a password to access it. You can also extend Sunbird with a series of free add-ons from the Sunbird site.

On the downside, Sunbird doesn't feature integration with either iCal or Google Calendar, which you'd expect as standard really. You can, however, export the calendar. It also doesn't seem to be updated very often and looks like that Mozilla have put it on the back-burner for now.

However, if you use both Firefox and Mozilla's e-mail client Thunderbird, Sunbird is an ideal calendar component although most would probably be better sticking to iCal.

Download Mozilla Sunbird 0.9.0 in Softonic

http://calendarbar.en.softonic.com/mac

Three of the most popular event organization applications that Mac users use are iCal, Facebook and Google Calendar. CalendarBar allows you to display events from all of them on your desktop in one convenient drop-down menu.

CalendarBar shows a list of upcoming events in your menubar and automatically syncs with all three applications meaning that your events are dynamically updated. However, you can't manually sync your calendars - you must wait for CalendarBar to do it automatically which may be annoying for some.

You also have to trust it with your login credentials for each calendar, which may raise security concerns for some. You can choose which of your calendars you want to be displayed though and the slick interface integrates with your OS X desktop beautifully.

CalendarBar is a treat for anyone that wants to stay organized in style in OS X.

Download CalendarBar 1.0.2 in Softonic

RescueTime 2.1.0.657-Keep better track of where time is going on your Mac

http://rescuetime.en.softonic.com/mac

If you could see at a glance where the majority of your time is being spent on your Mac, you'd probably be able to identify areas where you can save time and increase productivity.

RescueTime is a Web-based time management and analytics tool which automatically tracks the applications are taking most of your time. It sits quietly in your status bar and discreetly takes note of which windows are most active and being clicked on at any time. It also intelligently realizes when you've left your desk (obviously by monitoring keyboard and mouse activity) and stops recording at the right moment. You can even instruct RescueTime to prompt you how your time had just been spent.

There are a few other useful features too. One is a block mode which allows you to block certain websites for specific periods so that they don't distract you. Another is an alert feature, which reminds you when you've spent more time than you planned on a certain application or website. At the end of it all is a well-presented graphical representation of where your time was spent.

The idea behind RescueTime is a good one and it could be a useful way for companies to track how employees are using their time. However, for those users who are trying to discipline themselves in time management, the frequent alerts or blockages that you impose will no doubt frustrate more than they aid.

If you've got no self control at all, or you simple find yourself addicted to certain applications or websites, RescueTime will help you regain control over your time.

Download RescueTime 2.1.0.657 in Softonic

Get Organized 1.05-One convenient organizer for class schedules and assignments

http://get-organized.en.softonic.com/mac

If you've ever wanted a fully comprehensive class organizer and calendar on your Mac, Get Organized will give you just that and more.

In the realm of schedulers, there seems to be those that fall into two categories: To Do list apps and straight-up calendars. Neither really gets the job done fully if you're a college student. Get Organized fills in the gaps in that respect, letting you be as specific and detailed as you want.

The nice thing about Get Organized is that it's more than just a calendar, and far more than a simple to do list. Get Organized seems to be targeted specifically for university students, although high school students will also find most of the features useful. You first sort your courses by school term. Then start adding in the classes you're taking in a given semester or quarter. Courses are differentiated by the color of your choosing. Define the dates the class runs from, the days of the week it meets on, and even list the room number and other important information.

Get Organized even takes it a step further from there, however. By allowing you to note all of your assigned homework, assign a priority level to each one, and even input information about the required textbooks per class, you really have no excuse for not getting things turned in on time. There's also a really helpful option to email your professors via one simple click if you've added their information into the proper field.

The only hang-up a user could possibly have with Get Organized is that there are so many features that it's possible you might miss one or two. Luckily, Get Organized also comes with a very handy help prompt upon start-up that you can later choose to disable once you've learned all the tricks.

Get Organized is also available in a portable version, allowing you to take the program virtually anywhere you can imagine going yourself.

For a comprehensive class scheduler and assignment organization tool, Get Organized is not to be missed.

Download Get Organized 1.05 in Softonic

Tired of iCal? PreMinder, which is still in Beta, makes for a potentially viable alternative.

First of all, don't worry about losing all your iCal info and events. PreMinder lets you easily import all iCal information. The application is built in a multi-windowed interface, which has always turned me off a bit, as I find it unpractical to work. Not only do you have the big calendar window, but also the reminder window at the bottom, an events window on the left and a floating mini-calendar.

PreMinder provides multiple ways of scrolling through items, from a very handy monthly slider at the top to the daily notifier on the left or the quick back and forward buttons in the Calendar window.

PreMinder lets you create your own events, alarms and reminders. These can be repeated, stretched to multiple days or weeks and moved around very easily.

The search box at the top right of the PreMinder interface makes it easy to find any piece of data in seconds.

Although still in development, PreMinder is a promising alternative to iCal with lots of flexibility and features.

Download PreMinder 1.5.3 in Softonic

The Hit List 1.0.6-Elegant task management application

http://the-hit-list.en.softonic.com/mac

If you have a busy work schedule with meetings, assignments and deadlines constantly converging, you need to manage your time.

There are many major options on the Mac such as Entourage and iCal, and The Hit List is an attempt to gatecrash the market. The Hit List looks and feels very elegant presenting with you what looks like a page from a diary or schedule. You can enter a task simply by hitting enter and typing. All other commands, such as "Task Complete" and "Edit" are listed as keyboard shortcuts along the bottom of the interface. This makes adding tasks extremely quick. You can also open multiple tasks in different tabs if you're working on more than one thing at a time.

For those on the move with an iPhone, you can sync The Hit List with it although this is where the mobile features end. One of the big downsides of The Hit List for many users is the fact that, without an iPhone, you won't be able to access your schedule from any computer wherever you are. When you consider that there are other free options out there that do so, then the appeal of The Hit List looks limited.

The Hit List looks and feels good as a task management application but many may be put of by the fact that it can't be accessed anywhere and the cost of upgrading.

Download The Hit List 1.0.6 in Softonic

Task Coach will take care of all your pending tasks, as well as important dates and meetings, so that you never forget any of them again and you can also prepare them ahead of time.

By organizing your tasks in a better way with Task Coach, you'll notice an increase in your productivity, making use of your time in a more optimized way and therefore gaining time for other tasks - or to enjoy your hobbies once work is over.

The tasks in Task Coach can be organized in categories and seen as list or tree structure. They can also be configured separately, which means that each one of them will have its own title, description and percentage of effort that has been applied on its completion.

Plus, Task Coach can be run from a removable USB device, so you can take it anywhere with you. If you don't have your USB memory stick with you, then you can always export the task list to HTML.

It would have been nice to have more exporting formats in Task Coach, as well as other small tools we missed like task reminders. But these are just little details that we can forgive in such an useful application.

Use Task Coach and improve the way you organize tasks.
TinyCal 1.3-Menu bar calendar with Google Calendar integration

http://tinycal.en.softonic.com/mac

TinyCal makes either your iCal or Google Calendar accessible from the menu bar. You'll be able to see all your calendars immediately.

TinyCal appears in your menu bar as a drop down item. Even though the icon will not show the month nor date it will display the day. You can set multiple calendars to appear from the drop down, and have them either in a line or a row. TinyCal integrates both Google Calendar and iCal well, which does come in handy if you have different notes saved in each. It will also display days with corresponding events, which are shown right under the calendar.

One of the strengths of the applications is that it is not limited to the Gregorian calendar but will also show Buddhist, Hebrew, Islamic and Japanese. Our only disappointment though is that you can't set the start day of the week, and will have to settle with Sunday.

TinyCal works great at integrating both your Google and iCal calendars.

Download TinyCal 1.3 in Softonic
