In the year 2009, we witnessed the first-ever release of ‘Avatar’, the epic fantasy conceived and directed by James Cameron. At that time, few knew the immense impact it would have: after its premiere, it became one of the highest-grossing films in history.
After thirteen years of multiple promises of sequels and multi-film sagas, the dream became a reality and ‘Avatar 2: The Way of Water’ arrived on the big screen. In this second installment, we continue the story where ‘Avatar’ left off and reunite with Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) and Jake Sully (Sam Worthington). We also leave the forests behind in favor of the ocean.
If you want to know more about the actors bringing James Cameron‘s blue-skinned creatures to life, stay tuned and discover who’s who in Avatar 2: The Way of Water.
Who are the actors/actresses appearing in Avatar 2?
Jake Sully-Sam Worthington

The tremendous success of the first ‘Avatar’ made Sam Worthington a household name worldwide. Few people know that before venturing into acting, the actor had a rather mundane job as a bricklayer. In fact, he never intended to become an actor. However, one of his girlfriends encouraged Worthington to pursue acting, and the rest is history.
The Australian actor has also appeared in other blockbusters such as ‘Terminator Salvation’ and ‘Clash of the Titans’. While Worthington became a box office draw, he struggled to win over the critics. Although he hasn’t had major hits since his golden era, the actor has remained active. We’ve seen him in TV series like ‘Manhunt: Unabomber’ and even in ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’ as Alex Mason.
Neytiri – Zoe Saldana

Not many can boast of being the only actress to have appeared in four films that grossed over two billion dollars. Although her name may not be frequently seen in tabloids, Zoe Saldana is a heavyweight in the Hollywood world. Of Puerto Rican and Dominican descent, she spent her childhood and adolescence between New York City and the Dominican Republic.
Her work in film dates back to 1999, and since then, we’ve seen her in ‘Avatar’ (Neytiri), ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ (Gamora), ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ (Anamaria), and ‘Star Trek’ (Uhura). Quite an impressive lineup, to say the least. Her versatility as an actress has also led her to appear in films such as ‘Colombiana’ and even ‘My Little Pony’.
Kiri-Sigourney Weaver

As a living legend of cinema, Sigourney Weaver is more than familiar with the ‘alien’ world. Although her role as Lieutenant Ripley in ‘Aliens’ remains etched in the minds of many, she has also appeared in iconic films such as ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Gorillas in the Mist’.
Sigourney Weaver has also made her mark on the small screen and has participated in popular series such as ‘The Defenders’ (Alexandra Reid) and ‘Political Animals’.
Ronal – Kate Winslet

Oscar-winning actress Kate Winslet is also seen in Avatar 2: The Way of Water as Ronal, a warrior from the Metkayina tribe. Prior to Avatar, the actress had already worked with James Cameron in a film that may ring a bell: Titanic.
Winslet is one of the most acclaimed actresses by critics and audiences alike. Among her achievements is being the youngest person to have six Oscar nominations. Apart from Titanic, the actress has also appeared in ‘Revolutionary Road’, ‘Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind’, and ‘Sense and Sensibility’.
Colonel Miles Quaritch – Stephen Lang

Stephen Lang can boast of having a long career in film. Shortly after completing his studies, Lang embarked on acting, and since then, we have seen him in all kinds of movies. Some of his most recognized works include ‘Public Enemies’, ‘Conan the Barbarian’. Currently, fans of DC and Marvel comics may have recognized him in ‘The Independent’ and ‘Marvel’s Wastelanders’. However, Lang’s great passion has always been theater. In fact, he received a Tony Award nomination for the play ‘The Speed of Darkness’.
