Adam Sandler is one of the most sought-after comedy actors in all of Hollywood, and thanks to Netflix, he is having a new lease on life where, it seems, he can finally do whatever he wants. In movies like Uncut Gems and the upcoming Spaceman, the Grown Ups star is achieving unique milestones in his career.

Netflix‘s bets on Sandler’s movies are becoming more powerful, and now it has been revealed that one of his films will have a sequel on the VOD service. The specific movie is Leo, an animated film starring a 74-year-old lizard that was released on November 17, 2023.

The existentialist lizard is back

Directed by Robert Marianetti, David Wachtenheim, and Robert Smigel, Leo tells the story of a lizard who has been in the same class at a Florida school for decades. But when he discovers that he only has one year left to live, he decides to leave, escape to freedom, and live life to the fullest. But first, he must save his class from an evil substitute teacher… what will he decide?

The positive reaction from the children’s audience to Leo has prompted Netflix to give the green light to a sequel. As reported by The Wrap, Ted Sarandos, co-CEO of Netflix, has confirmed that they are “working on Leo 2” and that “the animation team is working at full speed”.

We don’t know what the plot of Leo 2 will be, and it seems that even Netflix is not sure, but for sure Adam Sandler will once again play the role of the old lizard, and it is also expected that actors like Bill Burr, Cecily Strong, Rob Schneider and Jason Alexander will return.
