After eight episodes, the first season of Ahsoka has finally ended, leaving us with epic moments in its final stretch and making it clear that this is just the beginning of a much larger story that transcends the series itself and directly impacts the entire Star Wars universe.
But what happens in this Ahsoka finale? Many questions arise from the series conclusion, and we will surely get answers in the future. However, here we attempt to provide you with a brief summary of what has occurred so that you don’t lose track when following one of Disney Plus‘s most surprising series.

The future of Star Wars is more uncertain than ever before
The last episode of Ahsoka ends with what everyone feared: the triumphant return of Grand Admiral Thrawn, who will significantly impact other Star Wars series like The Mandalorian. Throughout the episode, allies try to prevent Thrawn from leaving Peridea, as his triumphant return to the Empire would be inevitable. However, they are ultimately powerless against him and the surviving Great Mothers of Dathomir.
In the thrilling finale of Ahsoka, both the Jedi and Sabine and Ezra work together to fight against Thrawn’s massive army. The odds were stacked against them from the beginning, not only because they were up against the magic of the Nightsisters, something none of them had encountered before, but also because the enemy had a surprisingly powerful army.
In this way, Thrawn’s allies manage to interfere enough for the Chimaera to dock with the Eye of Sion, causing his ship to jump to hyperspace and enabling him to return to the Galactic Empire. Thus, the heroes fail in their mission, and now the Star Wars galaxy is in greater danger than ever before because Grand Admiral Thrawn can take charge of the Imperial Remnant.

Similar to what happened with The Empire Strikes Back, the series concludes with a defeat for the allies and a victory for the enemies, something unusual that leads to a much more hopeful future. Fortunately, the Star Wars galaxy has been forewarned. Sabine successfully unlocks her power in the Force and helps Ezra Bridger reach the Chimaera. Disguised as a stormtrooper (one of her old tricks), Ezra makes the journey back and escapes, returning once again to the New Republic. Meanwhile, Ahsoka chooses to operate independently, warning the galaxy about what is to come.
As we’ve been hinting in the last episodes of Ahsoka, Disney Plus’ series has ultimately served as a prologue to something much larger than anything else. We don’t know if the events will continue in its next season, in a collaborative film as announced, or even in The Mandalorian. But it is clear that what lies ahead is much grander.
