Apple Intelligence updates: Here’s everything that’s coming next

Apple is preparing to launch a new wave of AI-powered features under its Apple Intelligence 2.0 initiative. Building on the tools introduced in iOS 18, this next generation will expand the capabilities of Siri, bring AI to more apps, and strengthen partnerships with third-party AI services. While some innovations are expected soon, others may take longer to arrive—but the roadmap is clearer than ever.

Siri is finally getting smarter

After years of stagnation, Siri is receiving its most ambitious update yet. The first batch of changes—personal context, onscreen awareness, and deeper app control—were delayed from iOS 18 but are now expected this fall. The real leap, however, is coming in 2026 with the introduction of “LLM Siri,” powered by large language models. This upgrade will allow Siri to interact in a more human-like way and offer advanced tasks such as summarizing text and managing third-party apps via App Intents.

More third-party AI integrations on the horizon

Apple is also working to open iOS 19 to more external AI models, following the success of integrating ChatGPT. Google is reportedly negotiating to bring Gemini to iPhones, and other models like Perplexity may soon follow. This shift could give users access to diverse AI assistants tailored to specific tasks or preferences.

AI features expanding across more apps

While no new groundbreaking tools have leaked yet, Apple plans to extend existing AI capabilities to additional apps. For instance, the Music app may soon feature AI-generated artwork for playlists. The strategy seems to focus on making AI feel like a native part of the entire iOS experience rather than a separate layer.
