Apple may launch a new MacBook Pro in a few months: Here are the rumors

Apple is preparing to refresh its MacBook Pro lineup once again, with a new version expected to debut later this year, according to reports from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. This update would continue Apple’s pattern of annual upgrades, though expectations for groundbreaking changes should be tempered.

Minor performance boost with M5 chips

The 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models are set to include the new Apple Silicon M5, M5 Pro, and M5 Max chips, which are based on TSMC’s advanced 3nm N3P process. However, performance improvements are expected to be relatively modest, especially when compared to previous generational leaps. The design, display, and most features will remain unchanged.

No design overhaul until 2026

For those hoping for a visual redesign, Apple is reportedly holding off until late 2026, when a MacBook Pro with OLED display, a thinner form factor, and other significant changes is expected. Until then, this year’s update will mostly focus on internal hardware improvements.

Wi-Fi 7 and release window

Although not confirmed, the new MacBook Pro could support Wi-Fi 7, aligning it with the expected capabilities of the upcoming iPhone 16. The new laptops will likely launch in October, potentially alongside an M5-powered iPad Pro.

Should you wait or buy now?

Given the minor scale of the refresh, many users may find better value in current MacBook Pro models, which are already discounted. With M4 versions seeing price cuts of up to $200, some buyers may prefer not to wait.
