Apple TV+ continues to expand its catalog of productions with standout series and movies. An example of this success is the renewal of Bad Monkey, its highest-rated comedy of the year, for a second season. The series, starring Vince Vaughn and based on the novel of the same name by Carl Hiaasen, returns to continue surprising us with its wit and unique blend of humor and mystery. With a first season that managed to top the Apple TV+ charts for weeks, this renewal is great news.

A renovation that doesn’t follow the book to the letter

The first season of Bad Monkey adapted Hiaasen’s original novel with some of its own approach. Now, for the second season, the creators have decided to take a different direction, moving away from the second book titled Razor Girl. The decision, according to published in Variety, could be because the creative team led by Bill Lawrence has a three-season arc in mind.

Bill Lawrence, who is also behind other major hits like Ted Lasso, made his passion for Hiaasen’s material clear by stating: “Carl Hiaasen is a true idol for me, and being able to continue telling his story with Vince Vaughn and the incredible cast we have is a dream come true.”

Although there is no official date confirmed, everything points to Bad Monkey possibly returning to Apple’s streaming service in August 2025. We are talking about an interval of one year between seasons, something that always allows for careful development and respects the narrative quality that Apple TV+ has demonstrated.

While Silo is renewed for two more seasons and Invasion for a third season, fans continue to speculate about what twists the plot might take now that the creative team is moving away from the storylines of Razor Girl. A freedom that should open the door to stories that continue to explore the sharp humor and eccentric characters that captivated us from the first episode.
