The streaming industry is constantly evolving, in part due to the fierce competition among different platforms. Competition in content, app capabilities and services, and of course, in price. And one way that different services have found to compete in price is by offering plans that, including advertising, have a lower price than a regular subscription. There are several services that are starting to create ad-supported plans, and it seems that Apple TV+ would be one of them.

A lower-priced plan to access Apple TV+

Business Insider points out that Apple is strengthening its advertising team with key hires, suggesting a strategic move towards including ads on Apple TV+. This is far from confirmed, but it can be deduced from certain names joining the ranks of Cupertino.

Apple’s most recent addition is Joseph Cady, an advertising veteran with 14 years of experience at NBCUniversal. During his time at NBCU, Cady played a crucial role in advertising, working with companies such as Amazon, Google, and TikTok. His arrival at Apple, where he will lead similar initiatives, suggests, as reported in BI, an imminent integration of advertising on Apple TV+.

Under the leadership of Todd Teresi, Apple’s advertising team has quietly been expanding its advertising division. In addition to Cady, the team has grown with the arrival of industry professionals such as Jason Brum, Chandler Taylor, and Jacqueline Bleazey, each bringing their expertise from companies like DirecTV, NBCUniversal, Peacock, and FanDuel, respectively. Strategic moves that could very well lead Apple TV+ to follow a similar path to what we have seen in Amazon or Netflix, for example.

In a similar vein, according to Business Insider, Apple is also reportedly testing an artificial intelligence-powered advertising platform. This technology, aimed at optimizing ad placement on the App Store, could eventually expand to other Apple services, offering a more effective approach to ad delivery.

Apple increased the price of Apple TV+ from $6.99 to $9.99 per month some time ago. Now, if we really see the arrival of a plan that includes advertising, we can see the entry fee to the service that hosts The Masters of the Air or Constellation reduced again. A change that other players have already made and that, as far as we know, Apple could make. These are deductions based on the company’s advertising team template and we will have to wait for an official confirmation to know the whole story, but the possibility is there.
