Apple TV+ has in its hands one of the series of the year, The Masters of the Air, and the blame for the streaming service releasing this great hit goes to Steven Spielberg and, pay attention, Tom Hanks. After their collaboration in the movie Saving Private Ryan, Hanks and Spielberg, passionate enthusiasts of World War II, chose to undertake projects as producers that would continue to revive this historical conflict through serialized productions.
His first foray into this field was with Band of Brothers, which recently premiered on Netflix after being acquired from HBO Max. Later, in 2010, they returned with the acclaimed series The Pacific. And The Masters of the Air is the third part of a, for now, trilogy that explores the role of the United States in the greatest war in history.

The perfect series about World War II
The Masters of the Air immerses us in the true chronicle of an American bomber squadron during the Second World War. Specifically, it focuses on the so-called “Bloody Hundredth“, a group whose exploits left an indelible mark on history. This team, belonging to the 100th bomber squadron of the 8th Air Force, has a fascinating narrative that Spielberg and Hanks couldn’t resist portraying.
The miniseries, composed of nine episodes, features two of Hollywood’s most prominent actors, who competed for the Oscar last year, Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan, as its protagonists. They are joined by names like Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa, completing an impressive cast.
The series is inspired by the book of the same name by Donald L. Miller, who collected the testimonies of the survivors of the “Bloody Hundredth” to tell their story with meticulousness. Screenwriter John Orloff has been responsible for adapting this literary work for television.
Throughout its episodes, Masters of the Air is proving to be a raw, faithful, and action-packed portrayal of what this group experienced during World War II. A perfect series for fans of this type of conflicts, although it can be enjoyed by all audiences.
