Apple has already accustomed us to impressive releases every year, and 2023 will be no exception. It is expected that this fall, alongside the iPhone 15 lineup, Apple will unveil two models of the Apple Watch Series 9 and an updated version of the Apple Watch Ultra. According to internal reports obtained by Mark Gurman, these watches are known by the codenames N207, N208, and N210.

New Apple Watch Ultra and two new Series 9 as well

The Apple Watch series has established itself as one of the most popular wearable devices in the market, thanks to its excellent design, functionality, and connectivity with other Apple products. The pinnacle of this evolution is the Apple Watch Ultra, which was launched last year. Initially, we didn’t expect an annual refresh for this watch, but rather a biennial update.

To the surprise of many, however, it seems that this year will already mark the second iteration of the Apple Watch Ultra. And it won’t be alone. What can we expect from these new additions to the Apple Watch family?

Although specific details about these updates have not yet been leaked, one of the early rumors that gained some traction a few months ago was the possibility of a new chip arriving on the Apple Watch. In a device like a watch, the balance between battery life and power is crucial. That’s why Apple has been using practically the same chips for several versions now.

Now, while we await the potential technology shift to the A17 chips in the iPhone 15, something similar could happen with the Apple Watch. A more powerful chip, perhaps more efficient or even both if it adopts a smaller nanometer technology, could be a significant novelty.

Beyond this, and entering the realm of speculation, we might see new health-related features. watchOS 10 doesn’t provide many hints about the direction of these innovations, but there’s always the possibility of a surprise. It’s still early to know much more, but surely the rumors will provide us with some additional details before the expected launch in September.
