Apple continues to prepare its launch calendar for 2025, and it seems to have big plans for the beginning of the year. The main stars of this season are expected to be the new fourth-generation iPhone SE, something we could more or less already assume. But the update of the iPad Air and a renewed version of the Magic Keyboard for the iPad are also added. According to leaks, these new releases will arrive between the months of March and April.
New iPhone SE 4 on par with the most current models
The iPhone SE has always been an interesting model, but the fourth generation seems poised to make a significant leap in terms of design and features. According to Mark Gurman, the new iPhone SE will have an aesthetic that is very similar to the iPhone 14. For the first time, it will feature an edge-to-edge OLED display and a larger size of 6.1 inches, moving away from the 4.7-inch LCD screen that its predecessors incorporated.
Additionally, this model will adopt Face ID, thus replacing the iconic home button with Touch ID, which will completely disappear from any Apple product. With this, the SE line will get closer and closer to the high-end iPhones.
In fact, we expect it to come with the A18 chip, the same one that Apple introduced with the iPhone 16. This chip will provide the phone with a huge leap in capabilities and will allow the use of Apple Intelligence, which, until now, has only been available on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16. Additionally, we expect the device to incorporate 8 GB of RAM, double that of the previous generation, and a 48 MP rear camera, which represents a considerable improvement in photographic capabilities.
In addition to a USB-C port, we will find the action button which, again, is exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16. With all these improvements, the iPhone SE 4 would maintain its position as the most economical option in the lineup, with a price of between 400 and 500 dollars, approximately.
New iPad Air with Internal Improvements and Renewed Accessories
Although details about the new iPad Air are not as abundant, Gurman claims that we will see “internal improvements” in these devices. This could include the incorporation of new chips that enhance both performance and energy efficiency. The iPad Air range, last updated in May 2023 with the arrival of the 13-inch model and the M2 chip, has already shown a strong focus on power and versatility, so it is likely that Apple will continue down this path.
Additionally, we expect an update to the Magic Keyboard for the 11- and 13-inch iPad Air, with new functionalities designed for productivity tasks. Although specific details are still unknown, it is possible that the improvements will include a redesign to accommodate the row of function keys that we have seen in the Magic Keyboard version for the iPad Pro.
Traditionally, Apple presents its SE models in March, and everything points to the iPhone SE 4 being announced in that same window in 2025. On the other hand, the new iPad Air and its corresponding keyboard should also be unveiled at the same event, if there is one, or they might be released through press releases, as has happened on previous occasions.
