Today, everyone’s attention is focused on AI, but technologies such as augmented reality are constantly evolving. While the development of augmented reality products and services is secondary for companies such as Meta, which will be launching devices with this technology in the next few years, or TikTok, which has a wide variety of filters for making videos, Snapchat has been focused on this technology for years to develop e-commerce functions.
After launching all kinds of augmented reality features that allow you to try on clothes, makeup and accessories as if you were in a physical store, Snapchat’s next step with this technology is AR Enterprise Services (ARES), a new business unit that will provide retailers with a set of tools with which users can try on all kinds of products from home.
According to The Verge, the idea behind this new Snap branded business is that, through the use of augmented reality tools, retailers will have better conversions when using the app to sell their products and will reduce return rates much more.
Among the professional services to be offered by ARES are the commercialization of products offered for sale by retailers and customer service for any type of doubt or problem. It will also include the Shopping Suite, which includes a wide range of augmented reality tools for clothing, cosmetics and even furniture brands, allowing users to try out products virtually.
The Shopping Suite also includes the Enterprise Manager Backend system, which would facilitate the use of the development kits that Snap makes available to companies in order to create augmented reality experiences or measure performance in real time.
