Beetlejuice is one of Tim Burton‘s most acclaimed films, and now that it’s back in the spotlight thanks to “Wednesday,” his Netflix series that has become the most-watched of 2022, the director has decided to return to his favorite feature film and create a sequel.
For now, we know very little about Beetlejuice 2: Jenna Ortega will be part of the cast, Winona Ryder and Michael Keaton will return, and the story will take place many years after the original. We still have yet to discover the plot of the film, but leaked photos from the set have provided some intriguing clues about what the movie might entail.
What will Beetlejuice 2 be about?
Although we had already seen some leaks from the movie, the latest images reveal that the sequel could be very different from the first. In these new photos, we see Jenna Ortega, who will play the daughter of Catherine O’Hara (Winona Ryder), stunning in a wedding dress.
It seems quite clear that throughout the film, we will witness the daughter of the protagonist – or possibly the protagonist herself, as we are still unsure of the movie’s perspective – getting married. This could be a beautiful moment if it weren’t for the fact that in the original film, the protagonists die shortly after getting married… so perhaps the formula will be repeated, and we will have to say goodbye to Ortega’s character soon.

Indeed, the anticipation for Beetlejuice 2 couldn’t be higher. The movie is scheduled for release on September 6, 2024, so there is still over a year until we can see it in theaters. As for its arrival on streaming platforms, we don’t know the exact timing, but we do know that it will be available on Max, Warner’s new streaming service, as it is a film produced by the studio.
