BitTorrent has partnered with NetGear to bring support for BitTorrent Sync to network attached storage (NAS) devices. BitTorrent Sync is an app that allows you to create your own personal and secure cloud. Data is encrypted and is never stored on hard drive you don’t control.
Cloud services like Google Drive, OneDrive, and Dropbox are convenient but you have to put a lot of trust in the company storing your data. BitTorrent Sync is different as it lets you sync your files across devices securely. You’ll have to provide your own hard drives and NAS devices but your data will be more secure and you’ll have unlimited data syncing.
NetGear users can download the BitTorrent Sync app from the ReadyNAS Add-Ons page later today. BitTorrent is working with other NAS device companies to bring Sync to more devices.
BitTorrent Sync supports Linux, Mac, PC, Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and the Kindle Fire so all your devices can be synced.
